Prusa upgraded the CORE One and XL without raising prices

Three refreshed models arrived together in the 2026 Prusa lineup update : the Prusa XL+ toolchanger, the compact enclosed CORE One+ Gen 2 , and the larger enclosed CORE One L+ .

The shared items are the new GT1.5 belts and an integrated nozzle wiper. Prusa added hardware to every machine and still did not move a single price.

Assembled CORE One+ Gen 2 and CORE One L+ units ship first, with assembled XL+ machines following a few weeks later. Kits and individual upgrade parts roll out after that. If you had an unshipped order for any of the older models, Prusa switched it to the new version at no charge, with nothing for you to do.
The two upgrades every model got: GT1.5 belts and a nozzle wiper
The GT1.5 belts replace the older belt profile on all three printers. Prusa says they make fine repeating surface patterns harder to see. The target is the faint vertical banding you see on large flat side walls. Speed and accuracy stay where they were.

The integrated nozzle wiper is the simpler win. It cleans leftover filament off the nozzle before the print begins, so loose strands and small blobs don’t get dragged across the first layer. Prusa picked a standard, widely available wiper because it wears out and needs replacing.

On a toolchanger the wiper earns its place several times over. Every tool swap is another chance to deposit a blob on the part, so the XL+ gets the same part as the single-tool machines. Both upgrades also ship as kits for existing owners, arriving after the assembled machines.
What is new on the Prusa XL+
The XL+ is the toolchanger, with a 360 x 360 x 360 mm build volume. That is roughly three times the space of the CORE One+ and 1.5 times the CORE One L+. It still sits on a workbench and runs off a normal wall socket.
New 360-degree part cooling pushes more air and spreads it evenly around the nozzle. Prusa positions it as matching the cooling on the MK4S, and the payoff shows in overhangs, bridges and small details. High-flow nozzles now come as standard, giving more headroom when a model calls for heavy flow.
The tool offset sensor is borrowed from the INDX toolchanger. The old calibration used a removable pin and took long minutes. The new permanently mounted eddy-current sensor does the same job about 20 times faster. On a five-tool machine that saves a real chunk of time before every print.

The XL+ is also built for chamber temperatures up to 60 C. The better-sealed enclosure reaches about 50 C on the printer’s own waste heat alone, and a chamber heater covers the rest. That heater has no shipping date yet. The new sensor is also what the silicone toolhead, due in the autumn, needs to work.
What is new on the CORE One+ Gen 2 and CORE One L+
The CORE One L+ is the bigger enclosed machine. It offers a 300 x 300 x 330 mm build volume, an actively controlled chamber and a large all-aluminium AC heatbed. Its refresh is short: it gains the GT1.5 belts and the nozzle wiper and little else. That is because the L was designed recently, so most of these ideas started there.
The CORE One+ Gen 2 gets the broader set of changes. Prusa redesigned the heatbed mounting so the bed warms up and stays flat without an extra pause, which owners will notice on every print. For PLA, PETG and anything printed at a bed temperature of 85 C or lower, the “Absorbing heat” wait step is gone. Hotter materials start sooner too.

The Gen 2 also inherits the snap-on top panel from the L. It comes off in seconds with no tools, which makes cleaning easier, and the automatic top-vent mechanism underneath is sturdier.
One buying note for the Gen 2: the INDX automatic tool changer is fully compatible with it, and a CORE One L version is in testing. If you already have an INDX conversion kit on order, Prusa suggests waiting. Hold off on the Gen 2 upgrade until it publishes more detail.
What Prusa says is coming next
Roughly half the announcement covers things that have not shipped yet.
- HT hotend, for high-temperature engineering materials, due in September for the CORE One family. It slipped because Prusa wanted it reliable with third-party filaments, some of which are brittle and snap in the feeder.
- INDX for the CORE One+, with first units shipping soon and a CORE One L version still in testing.
- PrusaSlicer 3.0, a full rebuild of the slicer, with a first alpha promised within weeks. It is shared across the whole lineup, so older machines benefit too.
- Automatic filament calibration, using a pressure advance model that adapts to changing flow instead of one fixed value. The load cell measures the loaded filament before each print.
- Prusa Connect Local, a from-scratch replacement for PrusaLink that runs on your network with no cloud. Early access is aimed at technical testers first.
- Silicone toolhead for the XL+, due in the autumn, paired with the new tool offset sensor.

Every item on that list is still a promised date. Judge the printers on the hardware that has shipped.
Should you upgrade, buy now, or wait?
If you already own an XL, the tool offset sensor is the one change worth paying for, and the case gets stronger with three or more tools. Prusa sells an XL to XL+ upgrade kit per toolhead, and a separate enclosure upgrade for the better seal. Everything else is nice to have.
That upgrade pricing is the sore point for long-time XL owners, who paid a lot for a machine that took a while to mature.
I’ve got 5k or more in this printer and its easily the worst in my fleet. It appears the XL+ will fix some of the issues. My question is going to be if Prusa decides to soak us on the upgrades.
If you own a CORE One, the dropped heat-soak step and the wiper make daily use nicer, but they are thin grounds for spending. Wait for a kit price, then decide. Several of the Gen 2 improvements are firmware-side anyway and reach older machines for free.
Anyone buying their first Prusa should order now. Prices across the Prusa printer range didn’t move, and pending orders were upgraded free. The September HT hotend is an add-on, not a whole new machine, so waiting gains you nothing.
Wait only if you specifically need the HT hotend, the silicone toolhead, or INDX on a CORE One L. All three still have only a date attached, and dates slip.
None of this changes print quality dramatically. You get less waiting around and cleaner first layers, which is worth having, but anyone hoping for a step change in what comes off the bed will be disappointed.
