About 7items

7items is an independent tech gadget blog for buying decisions. Each post answers one question: which features change what you get from a product, and which ones only look good on the box.

Why 7items exists

Spec sheets are written to sell. A monitor’s peak brightness, a mouse’s DPI ceiling, or a phone’s megapixel count rarely tells you how the thing behaves on your desk or in your hand. 7items measures what can be measured and ends each post with a recommendation to buy or skip.

What you’ll find here

Six categories, each with its own section:

  • Monitor : text sharpness, real brightness, and the ports and cables you need to drive a display.
  • Keyboard : switches, actuation, and latency on the boards people type and game on all day.
  • Mouse : sensors, weight, polling, and click feel in a real hand.
  • Phone : cameras, battery, and the compromises the spec sheet hides.
  • 3D printing : printers, hotends, slicers, and filament, judged on the print.
  • RC cars : crawlers, bashers, and buggies, judged on price, drivetrain, and how they drive.

How 7items judges a product

Where a post makes a performance claim, it states the figure and the conditions it was measured under, so you can compare it with your own setup. Nothing published here is paid for by the product being reviewed. When a post turns out to be wrong, it gets corrected and the correction goes out to newsletter readers too.

Get it delivered

The 7items newsletter sends one email a week with the new posts, the measurements behind them, and any corrections. No algorithm decides what reaches you, and unsubscribing takes one click.
